We all know that water stress is a serious issue for plants. It’s hard to give a plant enough water when you’re dealing with a drought, especially if you don’t know what the water stress is that’s hurting it. Plants don’t know how often they need water, so they don’t know when to expect it and when to stop receiving water.
A common symptom of water stress in plants is a lack of nutrients. A lack of nutrients means that the plant cannot perform its normal life functions. Plants need to grow and grow and grow, so as the days go by, the nutrients in the soil level up and the plant starts growing. This is called photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis a plant will die.

I can’t help but think that one of the problems we have with the climate change phenomenon is that we’ve forgotten that plants are more likely to be affected by environmental conditions than animals. It’s also kind of the reason why we have so many plants in our yards, because we just can’t let some of our plants die.
Our plants are in trouble because we are constantly watering them to keep them alive. And we can make that easier by using irrigation systems. But our irrigation systems are very limited in what they can do in terms of water efficiency, and the fact that these systems are designed for watering a single plant, they have to be pretty small in order to keep up with the water demand of the plant while still being able to handle the amount of water that they are dispensing.
But while the water demand of plants can be a big problem, there is a good amount of water on Earth that is not being used by plants. The fact is that, without the water being absorbed by the soil and then used by plants, many plants would die. So the idea behind using irrigation systems is to help plants absorb water and then use it to grow.
If we’ve got a very fine line between watering and watering plants, we can either: (1) reduce the amount of water to the minimum or (2) increase the amount of water to the minimum. Because watering plants are not perfectly hydrated they require more water than watering plants. So, to reduce the amount of the water by watering plants, we need to reduce the amount of water to the minimum.
Water management is a very tricky thing because it is a very individual thing. For plants that are highly drought resistant, that is the only way to prevent a lot of damage, they need to get more water just as the soil dries out. For plants like the grasses and flowers that are not highly drought resistant, they need to get more water when the soil dries out. So just watering plants is not the right answer for every situation.
