The hottest anticipated music of the year opens this week in the West End.
Production drawings have been released for Dear Evan Henson, which officially opens at the Noel Coward Theater on Wednesday.
Newcomer Sam Tutty plays the lead, who is selected after a round of open auditions and debuts the West Indies as Ellen Hansen. The story follows a socially anxious schoolboy who achieves his desire to be the center of attention when he reveals a lie out of control.
The Broadway musical won six Tony Awards in 2017, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. It has a book by Steven Levenson and music and lyrics by The Greatest Showman songwriters Benz Pisek and Justin Paul.
Michael Greif returns with the original Broadway creative team to direct the show, with choreography by Danny Mefford, scenic design by David Collins, costumes by Emily Rebholz, lighting by JP Weidman, soundtrack by Nevin Steinberg and music by Alex Lacamoire Supervision included.
A weekly ticket lottery for music has also been announced, and bookings have been extended until 2 May 2020, with more tickets on sale for new dates.
