Google Maps Incognito Mode Finally comes on Android: Here the Details

-

Back in May, Google announced that Incognito mode – a setting that doesn’t store a browsing history of where you’ve been in Chrome – would be making its way to Google Maps.

Android users can now finally use the Incognito mode in Google Maps. The feature will enable them to search for places in Maps privately.

Although users can confidentially browse in Maps by opening a private tab in a browser, the feature will make the Incognito Mode available within the app itself. Four months later now, it seems to be spreading to all the Android phones and expect it to be available to all users in the next few days.

There are limitations though, Turning on Incognito mode in Maps does not affect how your activity is used or saved by the internet providers, other apps, voice search, and even other Google services, Google warns.

If it’s arrived on your already on your handset, then enabling it is pretty straightforward. Open Google Maps, then tap on your profile picture and select Turn on Incognito mode option.

For now, this is only for Android exclusively, but eventually, it will be on iPhones too.

The mode will be available for all Android users in the next couple of days as the rollout is phased. It will most likely be released or iOS users as well really soon.

It is vital to note here that enabling the mode in Maps does not affect how your activity is used or saved by internet providers other apps, voice search, and other Google services.

It simply means that whatever you search for on Incognito mode in Maps, the app will not save the history to your account.

The mode is a useful feature for those who wish to keep their privacy intact while browsing in Google Maps, however, once it is enabled, you will stop receiving personalized recommendations and suggestions in the app.

When Incognito Mode is turned on in Maps, your Maps activity on that particular device, like the places you search for won’t be saved to your Google Account and wouldn’t be used to personalize your Maps experience, said Google.
