Dennis Quaid is getting married again.
The 65-year-old actor confirmed to “Extra” that he proposed to his girlfriend, 26-year-old Laura Savoie, at Turtle Bay, Oahu, in Hawaii.
“I had the ring in my pocket. Quaid said, It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan and I wanted it to be private. She was actually taking a selfie of us when I put the ring in front and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ And then she fell down.
“It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much a surprise,” he said.
People reported that the two have been dating for several months now. Quaid was spotted with Savoie, a Ph.D. student at the University of Texas, as early as May, according to the publication.
Not much is known about Laura other than she was the class valedictorian at Pepperdine University and now she’s getting her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin in their McCombs School of Business.
All sounds great until you hear that she once dated Jeremy Piven.
Actually Laura can use that. Just imagine telling your parents that you’re going to marry the brother of Randy Quaid, who is 39 years elder, and on his fourth marriage.
But then, you’re like, well it will be him or Mercury Fish Survivor, Jeremy Piven. And all of a sudden your parents are rejoicing your decision. Genius.
The couple was first spotted together in May 2019 after having dinner in West Hollywood. He was previously linked to 32-year-old Santa Auzina, after being photographed together last December.
This will be the fourth marriage for Quaid, who was previously married to real estate broker Kimberly Buffington.
The two married in 2004 and are parents to 11-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe. They separated in 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2018.
Before Buffington, he was married to actress Meg Ryan, with whom he has a 27-year-old son, Jack, from 1991 to 2001. He was married to actress P.J. Soles from 1978 to 1983.
